Each piece bears a scripture based message, making for not only a beautifully decorative ceramic, but also a meaningful and inspirational piece of art to be displayed in your home, office, church or school.Our tiles were especially designed and produced in Jerusalem by the Balian family exclusively for E.M.J. Enterprises. History of the artisans: Since 1922, the Balian family has been producing authentic and original handpainted ceramics. The Balians were one of the three Armenian families brought over to Jerusalem from Kutahya, Turkey (by the British government in 1917) to renovate the ceramic tiles of the Dome of the Rock. The ceramics you see are full of tradition and are handmade/painted by specially-trained craftsmen and women. Years of ceramic and artistic knowledge has been passed on through several generations of Balian family members. All Balian pottery is created and designed by them at their studio in Jerusalem, Israel.
